This is stupid. This is not service.
It's been 5 hours since several dozen or hundred sites went down because the MySQL server is overloaded with too many connections. How long does it take to restart the server and block the offending IP?
This is absolutely disgraceful. If it's not an easy fix, then progress reports need to be given. We're all sitting here in the dark with our thumbs up our butts and our sites in a sling.
The dh site claims: "Our technical support staff is available via e-mail 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year." Is this really the case? How is it that such an egregious problem can go unfixed and unresponded to for so long? Is there a foosball tournament I didn't read about in the Newsletter?
Was I mistaken in thinking that Dreamhost is capable of hosting business sites? Is it just for hobbyists who won't mind dropping off the web for six hours?
Please respond as quickly as possible, even if it's to say that you have no idea when the sql server will be restarted and the offending process axed. At least that way I'd know if and when to start shopping for a new ISP, and telling the 8,000 (and growing) visitors who have tried to access my site during mysql downtimes in the last month.
What's going on over there?
