Emergency Exit is incredible. The site is a travelogue-meets-survival-guide, written by Dotcom expatriates travelling the world (primarily Southern Asia) with their severance packages.
Touring through the site almost makes me wistful for the thought of being paid to leave my job. I love my job; I just need a brain-break from the brain-bake. 'Till then, this site is a wonderful window into not only what you can experience travelling the world, but some powerful ways to share that experience with others. Saturday, Nov 03, 2001
When you have clothes so tattered that you won't even wear them on laundry day, when they're the last clean things you have, it's time to let go.

More than you ever thought you'd know about making artificial snow, Disneyland-style.

Some really funny stuff, compliments of everyone else (and brought to my attention through Blogdex):
In other news, our group at work is seeing the 11:30am showing of Monsters, Inc. (and I'm seeing it again at 8 with friends!) The Star Wars: Episode II (Bring in the Clones) teaser trailer is tacked on to the beginning of the movie, so I'll be able to give a brief report on that. Don't worry, no spoilers, but maybe a New Hope (unless the rumors are true and Jar Jar was impregnated by one of the Ewok delegates and he's actually pregnant with Chewbacca...) Happy Friday, everyone! Friday, Nov 02, 2001
It's so disturbing. The federal government says there's a credible threat of terrorism in the next week, but they claim they don't have any information on what the threat is.
Then Davis, California Governor, claims there's a credible threat against one of six bridges in California, including the Bay and Golden Gate bridges. The Federal government then pops up and says that the California threat isn't as credible as the general threat. What? If there's a general threat, and then there's some additional information indicating a possible target, how is that less credible? Argh. I just feel (as I'm sure a lot of us do) that we're not being given all the facts. I expect to be left in the dark, but I don't like being misdirected, bending the 'truespeak' to fit anti-terrorist tactics. More later, I'm sure. Thursday, Nov 01, 2001
So I found a groove once I settled into Yahoo!, writing a lot on the train and posting in the mornings or evenings. Now the train is out of commission for two weeks (They're rebuilding a bridge in the marshes before it collapses) so I've been doing a lot more driving and rushing, and less blogging. Add this to a heavier than usual work schedule, and suddenly things are a little slow in Furytown.
The good news is that the first week is nearly passed. I've got a bunch of stories to tell, including a few dotcom storytimes for those fans. I'll write a bunch on the weekend, and probably sprinkle them through next week, so you don't get bored. After that I'll be back on the train and a happy prolific blogger/coder, so stick around! New music video: Cool weird or freaky weird?

After an off-camera fling with an Ewok during the pod-races, it turns out that Jar-Jar is actually pregnant.
A good portion of the side-story deals with throwing out names for the new fuzzy cast member, finally settling on Chewie, because of his oral fixation. Tuesday, Oct 30, 2001
I've had a bit of writers block, knowing that this is post 1,000 on Fury. I felt like it should be something meaningful, but I didn't have anything meaningful to say. Then I stumbled across the Design Defense Ministry, and looking through it, I wondered how many of Fury readers hadn't seen my Javascript experiment, War.
Now more than ever, eh? Sunday, Oct 28, 2001
Went geocaching today with Jish, Heather, Jay, Derek, Tim, Kristin, and Dave.

Because my Amtrak train isn't running for the next two weeks, and I have to get up even earlier to battle traffic, I'm going to shortcut and point to their words in addition to the obligatory, unedited gallery. A few excerpts: |
