Argh. I really wanted her to get her gold medal back. The IOC is totalitarianistic because it can be. "It's a drug. It's bad. Ban it! Kick 'em out! Take away their medal! We'll even admit it was an accident and it didn't give her a competitive advantage but we can't make exceptions." Really, the IOC should be an elected government. We'd see more debate and excitement than we do in the UN.
Anyone else think it's funny that the article about Raducan's failed appeal is sponsored by a pharmecutical company? Prilosec's parent company, astrazeneca, even manufactures several anesthetics, stimulants, and beta-blockers on the banned substances list, including atenolol, formoterol, lidocaine, and terbutaline. I'm not saying they're evil, I'm just saying it's funny they have an ad that says "Even Olympians get heartburn" over that particular story... That and the fact that they've absolutely pastered several Downtown SF bart stations with ads for Prilosec urging people to "take the little purple pill three times a day" where only one out of every 10 ads actually says what you should take it for... Heck, take it because it's a purple pill! If you like it, please share it.
