(Or 'Mr. PotA')
I haven't seen it, and I want to, but I'm a little conflicted. Keep in mind that the Chronicle is usually pretty heavy-handed with their reviews. This is the publication that called Star Wars (the first one, 1977, blah blah) "Drek. Don't see this piece of trash." Still, I have almost a dozen friends seeing it tonight (PotA, not SW) so I'm sure there will be some sort of consensus tomorrow. Meanwhile I still haven't seen Final Fantasy, another movie with conflicting reviews. My list is growing faster than it's shrinking, though Em, Am, Rick, and I did see Legally Blonde last night... I wrote this to Benjy in response to his post, but I figured I'd post it anyhow:
There's a group of 2 or 3 folks who sit near the front of the Amtrak train every afternoon on the ride home and count the bunnyrabbits (well, jackrabbits) that bolt from the tracks when we go through this certain field. Nobody else notices or cares, but they (sometimes we) usually see between 2 and 6 rabbits each day. If we had better eyes I'm sure we would start naming them. Thursday, Jul 26, 2001
I'm looking forward to this movie more than anything else this summer.

I have equal access to both a Mac (OS 9 for now, X sooooon) and a PC (Win2K at work and home), and I use both for most things, but I've always stuck with the Mac for email. While at first it was because I wanted to stick to one platform to ease email archiving and keeping up anti-spam rulesets, lately (and even more very lately) I love using the mac for email because I have so much less to worry about on the email virus front.
I'm sure I don't need to tell you all about the 'SirCam' virus that's been bouncing around this week, but I just love getting a couple dozen random files from people and freely opening them up in BBEdit to see what's inside, without worrying about falling victim to the same malady. Finally, after 20 years, vindication.

A week ago, when we were visiting Athens, this would have really pissed me off. Now I feel sorry for tourists in Athens, but after seeing the Vatican closed on the day we were in Rome, and missing Nice because of high winds, that would have been a serious downer.
Anyhow, I'm thrilled to be back at work, and starting tomorrow I'm taking the train again, so I'll be getting back to writing my travelog and posting trip galleries. Today Em also comes back from Chicago, so I'll be going back home instead of housesitting for her (I will miss Kisa's built-in alarm clock though!). Well, shower, work, and then more web stuff. Oh, and I'm starting a cardio-boxing class at the gym today after work. Heck, why not? Tuesday, Jul 24, 2001
CONtent, or conTENT, either way I'm providing other bloggers with stuff to write about, leaving me empty!
Well, at least until I get home tonight and start working on some of the backburnered projects. (Let's all go for a collective "Yeah, right!" shall we?) Okay, to keep you entertained on the AIMbot front, try sending a message to googlematic on AOL's Instant Messenger. It may just be time to fire up AOLiza again and let her have at it. This never stops being fun (at least, it's lasted me five minutes):
What are people searching for on AskJeeves right now? Yahoo's Buzz Index is also fascinating. For more of this kind of thing, check out the directory. Monday, Jul 23, 2001
Today I got this in the mail:

Congratulations! You are the recipient offour and a half out of eight Sutherlandsfrom our gratuitously indignant reviewingduo at Blog You! Blog You! Blog You!, aconsumer's guide to weblogs. To see how you stacked up, feel free tovisit:http://www.blogyou.com Of course I realize that blogyou is probably just a ploy to create a meme, sending email to hundreds of blogs telling them how they rate, so the bloggers will bitch/gloat and link to the site either way (err, oops). What gets me is I don't know whether to bitch or gloat. According to their email I got 'four and a half out of eight Southerlands' however a visit to the site uncovers a 1-4 Southerland Scale, which would make 4.5 spectacular instead of middling. The good news is that I don't write this blog for 'consumers' so I really don't care. On the other hand, I give blogyou a rating of 3 on the Fury Web Scale, only I'm not saying what it's out of. That's for you to decide. |
